Varaždin Quest
Varaždin Quest is a team building programme set in the historic centre of Varaždin. It is designed for participants aged 30 to 60, and can be adapted to other age groups by arrangement.
How the programme works
Participants are divided into teams of up to 6 people, and every team receives the same set of tasks. Teams set off in different directions or a few minutes apart, depending on the total number of participants. Each team is given a map of Varaždin and written instructions, and has 90 minutes to complete as many tasks as possible and return to the starting point.
On their return, points are awarded according to how well the tasks were completed and the final ranking is determined. Being late costs one penalty point for every three minutes. Members of the top-ranked teams win prizes.
Good to know
- Teams can be formed in advance by the client, or drawn at the starting point.
- At least one member of each team needs a camera or a mobile phone with a camera.
- Each team has an exact start and return time.
- The programme can also be organised for smaller or larger groups, with the price agreed accordingly.
Team building packages
Package A – basic
- Photo tasks – 20 photo challenges at locations across Varaždin, from St Florian's Church to meeting a "kumica" at the city market, along with riddles and word associations. Each completed task earns 1 point.
- Creative task – creating something at a given location, for example a portrait of the city notary. Scored at the discretion of the programme leader.
- Sports task – a skill challenge involving every team member, such as throwing a frisbee into a basket from 20 metres.
- Food task – tasting and identifying local specialities.
- Observation and knowledge test – a short quiz on how much the participants noticed and remembered about Varaždin.
The best team wins a prize.
Package B – extended
Includes everything from Package A, plus an additional food task:
- Additional food task – drinks and cake at the Gradska kavana café.
Package B suits groups who want a longer programme with more time to socialise.

Optional extra
By prior arrangement, the programme can be joined by Varaždin's costumed characters – the city notary, the purgar and the baroque lady – who give the whole event a distinctly baroque atmosphere.
