Corporate team building Varaždin – Team disc golf
Team disc golf is a half-day outdoor team building programme in Varaždin, northern Croatia. Teams of three compete over two rounds on the disc golf course by Vodovodna Street. It runs about four hours, needs no previous experience, and can continue into lunch or dinner.
Disc golf follows the logic of golf, except you throw a disc instead of hitting a ball, and the target is a metal basket instead of a hole. The team that needs the fewest throws wins. It takes twenty minutes to learn and a full day to play properly – which is exactly why it works for teams that contain both the sporty types and everyone else.

Why disc golf works for a mixed team
Nobody starts with an advantage
Almost everyone is throwing a disc for the first time. There is no colleague who has played this for twenty years, so teams do not split into the ones who know and the ones who are in the way.
Teams are drawn by results
Everyone plays one practice hole first, and teams are then built from those scores. That keeps them evenly matched, so the competition still means something on the final hole.
Outdoors, but not strenuous
The course is flat walking, with no running and no physical contact. It works for almost any mix of ages and fitness levels in a team.
Run in English
The introduction, the coaching and the running of the competition are all delivered in English, so international teams and mixed-nationality offices take part on equal terms. We regularly work with companies from Zagreb, Slovenia and Austria – Varaždin sits about an hour from Zagreb and within easy reach of Maribor and Graz, which makes it a practical meeting point for teams arriving from more than one direction.
If your group is travelling in, we can also arrange transport, accommodation and the rest of the day. Vall Tours has been a licensed Croatian travel agency since 1995.
How the day runs
The programme normally starts at 10 am, though the start can be moved later to suit your schedule. The times below assume a 10 am start.
10:00 · Meeting point
We meet at the car park by the city cemetery and walk to the disc golf course, about 250 metres away.
10:10 · Introduction
The basics of disc golf and throwing technique – briefly, and without the theory nobody remembers anyway.
10:20 · Coaching session
Every participant gets their own disc and 20 minutes to try out the techniques with an instructor. There is one instructor for every six participants.
10:45 · Practice hole
Everyone plays one hole. The scores are used to build balanced teams, not for the competition itself.
11:00 · Teams and rules
Teams of three are drawn up and the competition rules are explained.
11:10 · Round one
Six holes, taking around 60 minutes.
12:10 · Break and refreshments
A pause with refreshments and the standings so far.
12:30 · Round two
Another six holes. Teams start in the order set by round one, so the leaders play under pressure.
13:30 · Prize giving
Scores are added up, the final standings announced and prizes handed out.
13:50 · Finish
End of the sporting part. From here the day can continue with lunch, a reception or dinner.

Sports shoes and clothing – that is all. Discs and all other equipment are provided. The programme is outdoors, so if the forecast is poor we move the date by agreement.
Combine it with something else
Disc golf fills the morning. If your team is staying the whole day or travelling in from elsewhere, we pair it with one of these:
Varaždin Quest
A 90-minute team hunt through the baroque old town. A good pairing if you want both sport and the city in one day.
Plate of Knowledge
A quiz with food tasting in a restaurant, as an evening follow-on once the course is done.
Guided tour of Varaždin
Varaždin cemetery, a protected garden-architecture monument, is a few steps from the course – so a licensed guided tour follows on with no transport at all.
