Five stops, five different tastes of Varaždin

Our Cipelcug starts symbolically – right near the railway station, with a welcome drink and the first Varaždin bites. From there we move through the city, stop by stop, as stories about Varaždin mix with local flavors, wine and good company.

Food stop 1

Hotel Varaždin

Location · Website

Homemade spreads and klipič

Cipelcug begins at the Hotel Varaždin restaurant, with a welcome drink. Then we taste homemade spreads made from pumpkin seeds and pork cracklings, served on toasted bread, with a mini klipič as a recognizable symbol of the Varaždin region.

After the first tastes, we head into the city and continue our gastro walk.

Between bites

A walk through Varaždin

The city between two food stops

Between restaurants, a licensed tour guide leads the way. Walking through streets, squares and past Varaždin's palaces, you'll hear stories that often go unnoticed.

You'll learn interesting facts about the city, the people who shaped it, and details you might otherwise walk past every day.

Food stop 2

Park Boutique Hotel

Location · Website

Meat and fish canapés

The next stop is the Park Boutique Hotel restaurant, where we taste two small bites – meat and fish canapés.

Just enough to build an appetite for the rest of the Cipelcug.

Food stop 3

Zalogajnica Šanjek

Location · Website

A Varaždin food classic

At Zalogajnica Šanjek we get to know a completely different side of local culinary tradition through small tasting bites of their homemade meat products – kobasica sausage and debrecinka.

Food stop 4

Restoran Bedem

Location · Website

Pumpkin and pumpkin seeds take the lead

The walk then continues to Restoran Bedem, a Varaždin restaurant with a Michelin recommendation.

Here we're served the main dish of the Cipelcug:

Pork tenderloin in a pumpkin-seed crust with pumpkin purée

Well-known local flavors get a contemporary restaurant interpretation here.

Food stop 5

Restoran August

Location · Website

A sweet finish

After the walk, the stories and the savory bites, it's time for dessert.

The final food stop is Restoran August, where the Cipelcug gets its sweet ending.

Wine to accompany the flavors of Varaždin

A good bite deserves good company. At selected stops, the food part of the Cipelcug is accompanied by wines from Vinarija Mežnarić and Vinarija Kopjar.

Food, wine and stories about the city come together to create an experience that's anything but a classic tourist tour.

A finish with coffee and good company

After the last food stop, we wrap up the Cipelcug in the courtyard of the County Palace (Županijska palača), over coffee served by Bar The Game Varaždin, live music and a bit more conversation. Location

No rushing – because Cipelcug isn't about running from restaurant to restaurant. It's a Saturday afternoon dedicated to Varaždin, its food, and good company.
